CFB vs NFL – Same Stuff, Different Day. GAMENOTES

UCLA/ATL were just kind of waiting for their Quarterback to get it together. Meanwhile their coach with literally no chin just sort of sat on the sideline bewildered. The tougher more physical team got the job done from beginning to end, despite the score somewhat indicating this game was close (it wasn’t). I’ve been hurt by rooting hard for Detroit/Utah in the past, but am cautiously optimistic this could really be the year. We’ll know a lot more when the Lions go Lambeau for Thursday Night Football, and when Utah travels to the Coliseum on October 21st. I am prepared to add either of these institutions to my backup team should Michigan Football disappoint this year.

Imagine being a fan of Colorado football this weekend. I think deep down, in your heart of hearts, you knew that this wasn’t going to be the year. But if you are still lying to yourself about how the rest of this year is going to go, I have some water that will make you jump higher I’d like to sell you. Make no mistake, Coach Prime has done a wonderful job with the resources and time he has had with Colorado, I can’t say the same about Payton. But if Shedeur Sanders was suddenly the Broncos QB, might we be saying the opposite?

Hey this game was just a lot of fun to watch! Did we get any real data on if these teams are any good or if they just looked good because they were playing each other? Did we see some truly baffling decisions made by the team desperately trying to hold on to the lead? Would Michigan State be happy to scoop up any of these coaches if they get fired or need to leave the Pac-2?

Whattttttt did I just watch. Turns out you do need more than defense and punting to be good at football. I think its time we start taking the Browns and Penn State as both legitimate threats, even if they have been historically stinky in the past. There is another comparison to make between the Browns starting QB as well as Penn State’s former coaching staff but we are bigger than that here at the GAMENOTES. I’m also on a one week suspension from last week’s article. Nothing a little physical therapy can’t fix.

Just when we thought they were dead, they go and rattle off another big win. Don’t go counting the Packers or Alabama out just yet, there is something to be said about institutional excellence. Some teams might be newer, and more fun to root for, but I have the sneaking suspicion we will end right back to where we always are. Desperately hoping Alabama and the Packers lose so we can sneak into the playoffs.

The NFL doesn’t make any sense. I think this is the biggest difference between us Saturday guys and “NFL only” fellows. Any team can win on Sundays. On a week where CFB went mostly as predicted I consider both of these results to be huge surprises. Last week I called the Texans/Jags game basically unwatchable. Now they go and rattle off huge wins against what I assumed are quality opponents. I am not worried about the Ravens, yet, but the Jaguars have looked like they have taken a huge step back. If you could have any quarterback from these 4 teams for the next decade, who are you taking? Am I insane for thinking Trevor Lawrence is 4th on that list!? If you had him at 1, I wouldn’t argue with you though.

Good team dominates bad team like they are supposed to. A nice sleepy watch were you can do laundry and pump your fist after that touchdown you hear on the TV from the opposite room.

We are going to use my Saturday to Sunday model to predict a 31-24 Victory for the Eagles. The favorites are for sure the better team, but on the road against an opponent who certainly wont lay down. It works because if Nick Sirianni and Mike Norvell switched places we probably wouldn’t notice.

It’s a shame any of teams get to even notch a win. It’s even bigger shame it was the Patriots and Buckeyes. Here is a maybe not hot take. None of these teams are excellent. QB play is pretty average across the board, and while the defenses are certainly solid units, I just think we typically see great teams score big points in big games. I enjoyed Ryan Day going off in his post game presser somehow less than a Bill Belichick postgame, which means I’ve discovered a number less than 0. Bill Belichick joked that Travis Kelce dating Taylor Swift would be his “biggest catch ever”, which is in fact funnier than Ryan Day ranting that they’ve had one bad half in the “past couple years”. I’m so annoyed Ryan Day gets to be happy. Let me go watch my happy space video. Oh the Cardinals just blew out the Cowboys? Looks like I have a new happy space video this week.
